Istanbul 9/17 - Archeological Museum

Outside of the museum... Fortune teller bunnies.

Here's a kitty sitting in a tree - K-I-S-S-I-N-G

More Kitties

Sarcophagus. Of who? How the hell would I know? Like I remember! All I know is that it's was for someone in the upper echelon.

And this sarcophagus. Well, this one was for someone in the lower echelon.

Skeletal remains of some peasant.

Another sarcophagus.

Medusa

More Medusa

Empty sarcophagus.

Marble

Marble

And more marble.

I have no clue! Anybody?

Trojan horse.

Guess what that is?

Cool tiling

Here kitty, kitty...

Didn't I tell you I saw a lot of kitty's!

I loved this trio! One eyed orange kitty, his adopted sibling behind him, and his adoptive mother to the left holding her protective stance. She hissed at any cat that tried to get near them.

Istanbul 9/17 - Ayasofya & Sultanahmet

Ayasofya (St. Sofia) - Byzantine cathedral built in 537.  Turned into a mosque by Mehmed II (conqueror of Istanbul) in 1453.

View of Ayasofya from outside of The Blue Mosque.

Sultanahmet (The Blue Mosque) - Istanbul's most important imperial mosques.  Constructed by Ahmed I during the years 1603-1616.

Inside The Blue Mosque.

Beautiful Turkish ceramic tiling.  These pictures do no justice.

Istanbul 9/16

Burger King "walk through"

McDonalds "walk through" - you won't find a drive through in this city.

Main train station ahead

Restaurants under the bridge, one particularly famous for their mackerel sandwiches.  Never tried it.

View from under the bridge

Long, hot day of walking = Long, cool night of relaxing. Drunk deb not pictured, as if! BTW, those aren't my cigs.
